A truly exceptional meal...
IF YOU, like me, always want to taste the entire menu, then tapas is the way to go.
And when tapas has inspired Asian twists and there’s alchemy in the kitchen, I’m all ears – or should that be tastebuds?
I am at the new venue of the Greedy Buddha that’s recently moved to Umhlanga’s Palm Boulevard. It’s almost like the enfant terrible has grown up.
Gone are the plastic tables huddled in what was essentially a draughty passage. The new restaurant is swish and spacious. It’s clean-lined yet dramatic. It’s very Sydney and a welcome addition to the strip.
There are plans for a floating deck out front, which will have views of the fountain – I’m told the boards will finally come down mid-year – and the restaurant avenue all the way to Gateway.
It will be the place to people watch. I liked it.
Bigger, Better Buddha...
By the end of the meal the name of the place feels more like a personal judgment — it is hard to resist overindulging when plate after plate of not-so-mini portions of rich, Asian-inspired food is placed before you.
